Representatives from about 100 nonprofits gathered on the Capitol steps Tuesday morning hoping to drive enthusiasm for fundraising ahead of Colorado Gives Day on Dec. 6.
Colorado Gives Day has raised $111 million for local nonprofits since its inception in 2010, making it the second-largest of its kind in the nation, director of online giving at the Community First Foundation Dana Rinderknecht said.
“We started Colorado Gives to really build up excitement about nonprofits,” Rinderknecht said. “There’s a ton of different nonprofits doing really good work.”
Five nonprofits were given an extra fundraising boost Tuesday, winning $1,000 each. Those were the Club America WMV, Phamaly Theatre Company, Friends First Inc., Child Advocates-Denver CASA and Grand County Blues Society.
Coloradogives.org lists more than 2,000 nonprofits from across the state that people can donate to. All nonprofits listed are registered with the secretary of state and have undergone Community First Foundation vetting.
